The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center to Prevent Childhood Obesity and Leadership for Healthy Communities are partnering with the the National Policy and Legal Analysis Network to Prevent Childhood Obesity to host a webinar on Monday, June 29, 2009 12:00 - 1:00pm (EST).

This webinar will provide an opportunity for state and local policy-makers to learn about how funds from the economic stimulus can be used to increase access to healthy foods and healthy eating opportunities for children and families.  Other policy options that can help to leverage these funds in creating healthier communities will also be discussed.  The event will feature staff from Leadership for Healthy Communities, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center to Prevent Childhood Obesity and the National Policy and Legal Analysis Network to Prevent Childhood Obesity, as well as two Vermont legislators who will discuss a recent law that they championed appropriating economic stimulus funds for a new farm-to-plate program.

This webinar will provide an opportunity for state and local policy-makers to learn about how funds from the economic stimulus can be used to increase opportunities for physical activity for children and families. Other policy options that can help to leverage these funds in creating healthier communities will also be discussed.  The event will feature staff from Leadership for Healthy Communities, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center to Prevent Childhood Obesity and the National Policy and Legal Analysis Network to Prevent Childhood Obesity, as well as a Washington state legislator who will discuss the law recently passed in his state requiring taht $7.5 million in economic stimulus funds be used to keep pedestrians and bicyclists safe.
